Some of you may have wondered where my college football preview columns had gone. Simply put -- I'm not covering college football this fall, because there isn't REALLY college football this fall. Yes, three Power 5 conferences and two Gang of Five conferences have chosen to play shorter schedules (only because there schools' academics is weak and sports is ALL they have to get attention), but it isn't really a full college football season. The NCAA hasn't said anything about bowl games, and I doubt there will a College Football Playoffs.
I will return to cover the NFL. This Labor Day weekend I will provide a quick divisional preview column (quick because, without preseason games, I have no idea how new players will gel on their new teams) and pick the first week of games. Without college football columns to take my time, I might be able to bring back my weekly opinion column that I haven't done since I began teaching college full time. 2020 will be an interesting and unique football year, to say the least!
