Visiting teams continue to dominate each week, and we had some shocking results this week. Green Bay beat Dallas and Kansas City fell from the ranks of the unbeaten, leaving just New England and San Francisco. Arizona and Denver won their first games, leaving just four winless teams. The Power Rankings shifted dramatically, so let's start there.
Power Rankings [Last week's rank]
1. New England Patriots (5-0) [1] : Don't count on them relinguishing the top!
2. San Francisco 49ers (4-0) [3]
3. Kansas City Chiefs (4-1) [2]
4. Green Bay Packers (4-1) [8]
5. Seattle Seahawks (4-1) [6]
6. Baltimore Ravens (3-2) [10]
7. Buffalo Bills (4-1) [7]
8. Minnesota Vikings (3-2) [11]
9. Dallas Cowboys (3-2) [4]
10. Philadelphia Eagles (3-2) [NR]
11. Carolina Panthers (3-2) [13]
12. Houston Texans (3-2) [15]
Divisional Rankings [Last week's rank]
1. NFC North [1] : Still the only division without a losing team, and all of their teams are in the upper half of the league
2. NFC West [2] : Rams lost but the Cards won, as did Seattle and San Fran
3. AFC West [4] : Steadily moving up despite losses by KC and the Chargers
4. AFC South [3] : All four teams are clustered around the middle of the league's power rankings
5. NFC East [6] : Three teams lost this week, but Philly's boost into the Top Ten helped alot
6. AFC East [5] : Miami and the Jets are dragging this division down despite the efforts of the Pats and Bills
7. NFC South [7] : Atlanta is really dragging them down
8. AFC North [8] : One team with a winning record is not a great sign for the one mighty division
Thursday night
New York Giants at New England Patriots: The Pats are slaughtering every team they face, and the Giants will be no exception. PATS, 31-10
Sunday morning
Carolina Panthers v Tampa Bay Bucs: The Bucs will keep this game close, but the Panthers just have too much talent to be held down for four quarters. PANTHERS, 28-24
Sunday early games
Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens: The Bengals are searching for their first win. Keep searching. RAVENS, 27-16
Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs: Last week was a wake-up call to the Chiefs. They realized that they cannot get overconfident and assume their offense will drive the ball. Watch that offense return this week. CHIEFS, 28-24
New Orleans Saints at Jacksonville Jaguars: The Saints scored some touchdowns last week, something they couldn't do the week before, and they'll score a bunch against the Jags. SAINTS, 28-23
Philadelphia Eagles at Minnesota Vikings: Ooh, this game should be interesting. We have two with talented offenses, both coming off strong victories over New York teams. Home field hasn't meant much this season, so the Vikings don't really have an advantage from that. They do have an advantage with a stingier defense, which should make the difference in this close game. VIKINGS, 23-17
Seattle Seahawks at Cleveland Browns: The hype is dead, and the Browns are true to form. SEAHAWKS, 23-17
Washington Redskins at Miami Dolphins: Well, one of these teams will have their first victory of the season. The Dolphins are atrocious both offensively and defensively. The Redskins aren't much better, but they are better. REDSKINS, 23-13
Sunday late games
Atlanta Falcons at Arizona Cardinals: Like the Redskins v Miami, we have two poor one-loss teams going at it. Atlanta has really slipped, while the Cards have shown flashes of competence. I think we'll see another flash. CARDINALS, 27-24
Dallas Cowboys at New York Jets: The Cowboys want a strong game to bounce back from their loss to the Pack last week. Beating up on the pathetic Jets seems a great way to accomplish that. COWBOYS, 27-13
San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams: The Rams are reeling, having already suffered two losses. I think San Fran will make it three. 49ERS, 27-20
Tennessee Titans at Denver Broncos: The Broncos won their first game of the season last season! They should savor that, as I don't see them getting their second one here. TITANS, 20-13
Sunday night
Pittsburgh Steelers at Los Angeles Chargers: The Chargers offense hasn't been too effective of late, but their defense is imposing. That will be enough to win, as the Steelers offense is already struggling, and a strong defense will just make that harder. CHARGERS, 23-13
Monday Night Football
Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers: This divisional clash is more interesting because each team has only one loss. Basically, the two top teams in the division are squaring off. The Packers have the stronger team, but the Lions have a great record against the Pack in the last three years. Unfortunately that record was achieved against mostly backup offensive players replacing injured Packers. Now the Packers have mostly their starting offense. That doesn't seem to bode well for the Lions. PACKERS, 24-17
