NCAA 2023 Week 7 results

We had fewer games that I would label as upsets, but the Top 25 contests we had caused massive shakeups.  We have six new teams in the Top25. The most stable part of the rankings was the top.

Upset Alert

Friday night had the first one, and it switched a result that looked obvious when I went to bed.  The Stanford Cardinal engineered an amazing second half comeback to beat Colorado, basically destroying any Pac-12 Championship hopes of Coach Prime.

The remaining upsets cost three teams their Top 25 rankings and another team nearly lost theirs.  Pitt beat Louisville, deflating them after their amazing victory over Notre Dame.  Arizona shocked Washington State, and LSU completely destroyed Auburn.  The biggest shocker will be discussed in the next section.

Big Ten Report

Games went pretty much as expected.  The Iowa v Wisconsin game was expected to be a grinding, defensive battle, only the victor was a bit of a surprise.  The biggest shocker was engineered by the team I gave up on -- Illinois.  Their defense stepped up, and their offense stopped making yard-costly mistakes, and they upset Maryland.  If this was not a fluke, the Illini might be finding themselves, and they can once again become a force.

MAC attack

There was a little more surprises here.  Northern Illinois showed why they are always a threat in conference games, as they handed Ohio a tough loss.  Bowling Green brought some sanity back to the crazed Bulls, knocking them off and bringing Buffalo back down to Earth.
