NCAA 2012 Week 6 Top 25

Seven unbeaten teams lost this week!  While two were inevitable, as unbeatens played unbeatens, the others were not guaranteed.  As such, there was shake-up on the Top 25.

Top 25 [Last week's position]
1.  Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0) [1] : With the proliferation of upsets, they may be happy they had a bye week
2.  Oregon Ducks (6-0) [2] : Another dominant performance.  With Stanford's slide and inconsistency by USC, the top Pac-12 team is obvious
3.  South Carolina Gamecocks (6-0) [4] : They slaughtered Georgia to put themselves in contention to battle Alabama
4.  Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-0) [7] : Huge win for the Irish
5.  Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0) [10] : Dominated Nebraska to remain unbeaten - the only unbeaten team in the Big Ten
6.  Kansas State Wildcats (5-0) [11] : Huge wipeout of in-state rival Kansas Jayhawks
7.  West Virginia Mountaineers (5-0) [9] : Another offensive explosion makes them the most imposing team in the Big XII
8.  Florida Gators (5-0) [12] : They handed LSU their first defeat, although I knew it was only a matter of time
9.  Texas Longhorns (4-1) [6] : Their defense couldn't hold West Virginia, but their offense moved well
10. LSU Tigers (5-1) [5] : Their defense is still strong, but the offense is lacking
11. Georgia Bulldogs (5-1) [3] : Thoroughly embarrassed by South Carolina
12. USC Trojans (4-1) [13] : Up week for Matt Barkley
13. Florida State Seminoles (5-1) [8] : Upset by NC State
14. Clemson Tigers (5-1) [18] : Tajh Boyd continues to lead one of the best offenses in the ACC
15. Mississippi State Bulldogs (5-0) [20] : Banner year for the Bulldogs, but their toughest SEC games still remain
16. Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-1) [14] : Slaughtered by Oklahoma.  Would have fallen more, but there's a large gap between the top 15 and the rest
17. Stanford Cardinal (4-1) [17] : Needed overtime to surpass Arizona
18. Baylor Bears (3-1) [19]
19. Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (5-0) [26] : The Bulldogs roll into the Top 25, but face a tough challenge this week
20. Arizona State Sun Devils (4-1) [21]
21. Cincinnati Bearcats (4-0) [NR] : Clear victory surpasses them over other two unbeaten Big East teams
22. UCLA Bruins (4-2) [16] : Stunning loss to Cal
23. Ohio Bobcats (6-0) [27] : They keep winning
24. Rutgers Scarlet Knights (5-0) [24]
25. Louisville Cardinals (5-0) [23] : There haven't been three Big East teams in my Top 25 in years

On the Edge: Oregon State Beavers (4-0), Texas A&M Aggies (4-1), Nevada Wolf Pack (5-1), Boise State Broncos (4-1), BYU Cougars (4-2), North Carolina Tar Heels (4-2), Toledo Rockets (5-1), Northern Illinois Huskies (5-1), Penn State Nittany Lions (4-2), Oklahoma Sooners (3-1), Michigan Wolverines (3-2), Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks (3-2), Iowa State Cyclones (4-1), San Jose State Spartans (4-1)

Dropped off: TCU Horned Frogs [#15], Nebraska Cornhuskers [#22], Michigan State Spartans [#25]

Big Ten Report
Things went pretty much as expected, except for a blowout by Ohio State.

LEGENDS Division:
1.  Michigan State Spartans (4-2) : They don't win pretty, but that defense keeps them in play
2.  Michigan Wolverines (3-2) : That offense can pour it on when they need to
3.  Northwestern Wildcats (5-1) : They lost a close game, but that offense can move
4.  Iowa Hawkeyes (3-2)
5.  Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-2) : They could not stop a spotty Ohio State offense
6.  Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-1)

LEADERS Division:
1.  Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0) : Without a doubt, the strength of this conference
2.  Penn State Nittany Lions (4-2) : Close win, and they are still improving
3.  Wisconsin Badgers (4-2) : Starting to get the offense back on track
4.  Indiana Hoosiers (2-3) : They gave the Spartans everything they could handle
5.  Illinois Fighting Illini (2-4) : It took three quarters, but the offense showed some life
6.  Purdue Boilermakers (3-2) : Terrible game against Michigan, and they don't have injuries (like Illinois) to excuse them
